I was excited when my good friend Stacy called me on Saturday to see if I wanted to com shoot a senior session with her. We haven’t ever shot together but we have wanted to for a while. It was the most fun I have ever had on the shoot, but that wasn’t just because Stacy and I are great friends, we also had a fun and beautiful subject to photograph! Larissa is a senior this year and she was just adorable. Super photogenic and downright fun! It was a pleasure to photograph her.

reflections of a year.
It has taken a lot of courage to write this blog post, but I never want to forget what I am feeling right now and I want to share it with you all.
It is funny how life works out. A year ago we were living in Utah, my business was doing better than it has ever done before and we were preparing for my very first WPPI. I was so excited for the way my business was headed and I just knew that 2009 was going to be HUGE. While we were at WPPI Alex got a call saying he got an assistant managers job in Roswell, NM. I am always excited to move to new places, but I was a little worried about how my business would be effected by the move. If you would have asked me two months ago I would have told you it was the worst thing that could have happened in my business, but God has a plan for all of us and almost a year later I am starting to see just why we were supposed to move down here.
I have booked ZERO weddings since I have been down here. ZERO! That to me is just scary. My confidence has been shaken to the very core. Am I not Good Enough? Too Expensive? Too Weird? I just didn’t know why I wasn’t booking anything. Since I haven’t had much work, I decided to really start networking with other photographers in the area. When I first moved down here I contacted all of the photographers I could find and not one person got back to me so I just forgot about it. Well that was the old me. If you have been reading my blog and following me on twitter you will know that I have organized a group of photographers in my area and we meet once a month. Not only do I look up to them as an artist and photographer, but also consider them my friends. They have changed my life and the way I do business!
I finally feel like I am in a place where I can help other photographers. Like I actually have something to contribute. And it feels great. I feel like maybe God wanted me to slow down and really figure out what I want my business to be and how I want people to see me as an artist. I am also thinking about switching back to film, but that is a whole other blog post! More on that later!
I just want to thank all of the wonderful people who come to my blog and leave me comments. There have been times in the past year where I have felt like such a horrid photographer and it just made my day when I knew that someone really cared enough to stop by my blog and leave a comment. Love you all so much. And since a blog post is stupid with out pictures, here is one of Paige from the park today. Gotta love some converse!
February 8, 2010 - 8:33 am - Thanks everyone! You are all sweet and I love you all!!!
February 6, 2010 - 8:06 pm - girl- you are an AMAZING photographer and an AMAZING teacher. i have appreciated all the help you have given me in the last few months. I wish i could be there to go to all your cool meetings. I have contacted other photographers in this area and no one has gotten back to me either. =( i sure miss you though! cant wait to see you next month at WPPI!
February 5, 2010 - 9:56 pm - Thanks gal! For being courageous enough to get us together. I need to feel connected to photographer friends.
February 5, 2010 - 4:31 pm - I loved your post. You have figured out a really important concept that will help you be happy no matter what life throws at you. We have to make sure we are grateful for all of the good things around us and then the tough ones aren't quite so tough. I think you are an awesome photographer and artist. I'm proud to say I know you. Debbie
Sledding in Utah
There was snow. A lot of it. I can’t tell you how glad I am that Roswell doesn’t get as mush snow as Roosevelt. I bet my parents had over a foot of snow in their yard. I am not a fan. We did have a blast visiting family and friends, and yes even the snow, while we were in Utah. Paige had so much fun playing with her cousins, especially when we went sledding in my brothers yard. Here are the cutest damn sledding pictures ever taken!
Umm…yeah. She is adorable.
The most EPIC crash of the day. My niece Bailey got a face full of powder!
Brian carrying the girl up the hill.
Grandma Trenna was having fun with the kids. She is an awesome grandma!
Every picture I put on my blog of my brother is kind of stupid looking. I guess that is what he gets for making stupid faces all of the time! Love him so much!!!
My sweet little Jack!
Again . . . My brother pulling faces. He is so funny!
We all had a great time in Utah but I am really excited to be back in New Mexico. Wedding season is just around the corner and I am looking forward to booking lots in 2010!

Mini Sessions in the Snow!
Alex’s mom really wanted an updated picture of Jacque and Cory for her wall, so while I am in Utah we decided to do a quick session. And when I say quick, I mean 10 minutes! That is quick! They have so much fun together so it was really easy and fun to do the session.
The snow throwing started . . . this is where we started having fun
We went sledding at my brothers this afternoon so come back tomorrow for cute overload!
January 25, 2010 - 6:17 am - Great shots - I love the snowball fight ones.
January 24, 2010 - 12:09 am - So cute, Tonya! You always do such a great job! My fave is the one right after the throwing pictures where they are just about to kiss, they have their arms wrapped around each other, and they are covered in snow. Perfect!
January 23, 2010 - 8:47 pm - Wow these are great snow pictures! Perfect exposure! I love the last two!
Paige’s Christmas Portraits
I want to start this post out by saying that this shoot was a far departure from anything I normally do. I haven’t shot in a studio since Photography School. My good friend, and fellow photographer Christy Penn invited me and Paige to her studio to take some fun Christmas pictures. I have never had Paige’s pictures taken in a studio so I was a little anxious on how she would do, but she did great! Most of the pictures of just Paige Christy took. At the end of the shoot I took some pictures of Paige and her best friend Miss Gracie. I really wanted to get some pictures of the two of them since she was moving back to Utah.
Thanks again Christy! It was really fun to hang out with you! Also a big thanks to my dear friend Stacy who let me borrow her cute petti skirt and shirt that Paige is wearing!

Here are the ones I took. Studio work has never really been my strong suit, but I think the pictures turned out pretty cute!
Paige is already missing Gracie like crazy! We are all sad!
